The Samsung Atvi S.

While Microsoft has been working closely with Nokia for its Lumia range

of devices, Samsung turned out to be the first to the party when it unveiled the Windows Phone 8-equipped Ativ S at its press conference at the IFA

tradeshow.

However, the Galaxy Note 2 was the highlight of the chaebol's presentation, and the Ativ S felt more like an afterthought. Samsung's recent smartphone lead has been in part driven by Android, so it's no surprise to find it given brief mention.

Samsung ATIV W Windows Phone 8 Specs

  1.   1.5GHz Dual-Core processor
  2.     1GB Onboard RAM
  3.     16GB/32GB internal memory
  4.     MicroSD card support for external storage
  5.     4.8” Super AMOLED HD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 2
  6.     8MP autofocus rear camera
  7.     1.9MP front-facing camera for video calling and Skype
  8.     8.7MM thin with aluminum chassis
  9.     2300mAh battery
  10.     Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, and NFC
The ATIV S is a beautiful phone and perfectly carved by Samsung. The phone is having physical Windows button to get to your Start screen which makes it more comfortable to touch and use.

The speaker bar on the front and the back, as well as all of the buttons, are aluminum, not plastic. And the display glass has just the slightest of rounded edges. It all adds up to a device that looks great, feels great, and performs great.

The phone is expected to hit the market with the official launch of Windows Phone 8 later this year. It seems like Microsoft with its partners, is all set to create a buzz in Apple iPhone and Google’s Android dominated mobile market.
